L'objectif principal de l'équipe est l'élaboration de nano matériaux fonctionnels, capables d’interagir avec leur environnement ; matériaux pour la détection de gaz, de rayonnements, dégradation de polluants, conversion et stockage d'énergie. L'équipe s'intéresse plus particulièrement :
-à la compréhension des mécanismes de formation et croissance de nanomatériaux, et des processus de mise en forme
-aux relations micro-nanostructure /propriétés/réactivité : propriétés en relation avec la réactivité des matériaux à leur environnement (gaz, liquide, rayonnement), catalyse, transports électronique et ionique, transport thermique, luminescence, photocatalyse.
Nanooctaèdre de Co1.5Fe1.5O4 , qui présente uniquement des faces {111} au gaz. L'obtention de nanocristaux de forme spécifique permet l'étude de la réactivité de faces cristallographiques en présence de gaz.
Imagerie Hyperspectrale 4D (x,y,z,w) d'une valve de diatomée.
La structure multi-échelle des diatomées leur confère une efficacité remarquable pour le piégeage de la lumière en associant des propriétés de type guide d'onde et cristal photonique.

- Microscope électronique en transmission 200 kV ST (FEI), avec caméra ultra rapide, diffractomètre de rayons -X (Panalytical), spectromètre Raman couplé à un microscope à force atomique
